Caring For Velvet Drapes
Washing – while the procedure on washing velvet depends on what type, generally it needs gentle washing and lukewarm water with mild soap. If the dust is too thick, you may need to use a gentle brush to get to the dirty spots.
Stain removal – you may or may not wash the entire curtain, or just spot clean to remove the stain. If you decide to wash it, and remove the stain, the procedure is the same, wash with lukewarm water, foam or mild soap and a gentle brush. To only remove the stain, without washing the entire curtain, just dip a wash cloth into a mixture of lukewarm water and soap, then scrub the stain. Rinse the cloth afterwards, and scrub the stain spot again.
